Nikon has just officially announced the new Nikon Nikkor Z 800mm F6.3 VR S lens. It is a super-telephoto prime distinguished by the unique combination of one of the longest focal lengths available in a surprisingly portable package. This distinct design is made possible by the inclusion of a Phase Fresnel element, which cuts the overall weight by 50% and the length by 16% compared to the former F-mount 800mm f/5.6 lens. The lens’ image stabilization is CIPA-rated for up to 5 stops and up to 5.5 stops when used with the Synchro VR on Nikon’s Z9 camera.
Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm F6.3 VR S lens is the lightest, easiest-to-carry and most gravity-defying 800mm super-telephoto lens Nikonfs ever created. Designed around Nikonfs proven Phase Fresnel (PF) element, it frees bird, wildlife, aviation and sports photographers to pack lighter, cover more ground and even shoot handheld on the move. Superb S-Line optics, powerful VR, fast, quiet autofocus, premium weather sealing and a weight balance optimized for fluid panning all combine in this marvel of lens design.
This new lens costs $6,496.95, first available for pre-order at B&H/ Adorama.
